The Gastronomy Festival seeks to disseminate culinary culture in all its shapes and forms and to display the variety of dishes and the rich gastronomic diversity the region has to offer.
The Cultural and Artistic Festival will be held in the Cerro Juli conventions centre where people will be able to relax in surroundings designed for artistic events. This year once again, well-acclaimed performers and musicians from Peru and abroad will participate.
The Social-Awareness Festival will demonstrate the positive impact of gastronomy on the economic development of all social levels; in addition, its activities will support several social causes. The Clean Festival will promote good practices in the handling of waste materials, in collaboration with the municipal authorities, to show that large-scale events can be organized with a minimal impact on the environment.
It was Arequipa's delicious gastronomical diversity that provided the motivation to set up AGAR (Arequipa Gastronomy Association). Its mission is to tell the world about a place in a South American country where ingenuity and enthusiasm have managed to combine all the fundamental elements needed to produce a delicious dish.
The festival is to be held at the Centro de Convenciones Cerro Juli s/n, in the district of José Luís Bustamante y Rivero between Thursday 20th October and Sunday 23th October, 2011. This venue was chosen as it has the technical facilities the organization requires. It also offers all the necessary services, a generous capacity, and ease of access from the city centre.
